Executive Summary
The Momo Cancer Foundation, committed to improving the health and well-being of individuals affected by cancer in Uganda, is launching a year-round tree-planting initiative aimed at combating climate change and providing natural healing for cancer patients. This project will focus on planting African trees throughout Uganda, contributing to environmental sustainability and creating green spaces that support both the ecosystem and the health of cancer patients.
We seek partnerships from organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other interested stakeholders to join hands in this crucial effort. Our goal is to create a network of committed partners that will make a lasting impact on the environment and the health of those we serve.
Background and Rationale
Medical Camp and Tree Planting
The Momo Cancer Foundation, in partnership with doctors from Mulago Hospital, is conducting a medical camp and tree planting activities. With the increasing population and industrialization, Uganda is losing its forests at an alarming rate. Deforestation contributes to environmental degradation, loss of biodiversity, and exacerbates the impacts of climate change, which disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.
The Healing Power of Nature
Studies have shown that exposure to green spaces can have therapeutic benefits, especially for individuals battling chronic illnesses such as cancer. Trees are not only vital for the planet’s health but also offer psychological and physical benefits, such as reducing stress, improving air quality, and boosting emotional well-being. The Momo Cancer Foundation believes that by planting trees, we can provide an additional layer of healing for cancer patients who benefit from both the environmental and emotional advantages of natural spaces.
